STEVE WRIGHTSteve Wright has been dedicated to excellence in lighting design for 15 years, first as a luminaire designer with a leading lighting manufacturer, and later as a lighting designer with one of Australia’s leading specialist design houses. He has been involved with various aspects of design, documentation, visualisation and project management for some of the most prominent projects in Australia over the last decade, including the Sydney Opera House, the national museum of Australia and Melbourne MuseumSteensen Varmin has been involved in some of the most significant architectural lighting projects in Australia and throughout the local region in recent years including the New Asian Gallery at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the historic Mint building in Sydney. They are currently working closely with Utzon Architects and Johnson Pilton Walker on the refurbishment of the interior and exterior lighting installations at the Sydney Opera House, and are also engaged to light the new National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and the refurbishment and extension of the Auckland Art Gallery in New Zealand.Steensen Varming is passionate about light, and understands that, through light, form, texture and colour of building fabric is revealed and interpreted. They consider that the seamless integration of lighting within architecture to be an essential outcome for a successful project. They understand and appreciate the balance of light and shadow and also strive to provide a balance between the art and science of lighting design to create innovative and sensitive solutions in concord with the built environment.
