Architects and their clients are often unaware of the broad range of services offered by Quantity Surveyors and when these services are beneficial to a project. This course explains in detail the various services provided by quantity surveyors and the appropriate time to employ these services. An insight into detailed project cost analysis is provided and the advantages, disadvantages and accuracy of the individual services are explained.

    Ken Thomson is a Director of MDA Australia, a Sydney based Quantity Surveying and Cost Management practice which evolved from the historic firm of Thompson & Wark which was originally established in 1895. Ken worked for Thompson & Wark and other quantity surveying practices before becoming a Director of MDA Australia in 1991.

    He has over thirty years experience in the construction industry and during that period has been involved in a broad range of projects with a particular emphasis on cost planning and post-contract administration. Projects he has been responsible for include major health projects, multi-storey commercial buildings, aviation facilities in Australia and overseas, projects for various Universities and valuation of major port facilities in Sydney Harbour and Port Botany for the Sydney Ports Authority.
