Duration: 00:42:09
Jon Farren, Managing Consultant of Marshall Day Acoustics, explains the architectural implications of the recent changes to the Building Code of Australia regarding sound insulation. The fundamentals of sound measurement and the acoustic terminology, as used in the BCA, are clearly explained. The shortcomings of the BCA are highlighted along with other important sound insulation issues. By including recorded examples of sound transmission, through a variety of building materials, Jon Farren converts the topic of sound insulation from a mere BCA requirement to a tangible architectural problem.
